MOU Signing with Dee Noon & ChatGate Communication
Strengthening the bridge between education and industry, Equator College has formalised a strategic partnership with Dee Noon Corporation Sdn Bhd and Chatgate Communication Sdn Bhd. This collaboration enhances academic-industry connections to provide students with direct industry exposure, practical real-world experience, and valuable professional insights. By working closely with corporate partners, the initiative aims to foster creative collaboration, nurture emerging talent, and prepare graduates to excel as future-ready professionals.
Mobile Cinematic Workshop at SMJK Chio Min
Demystifying digital storytelling, this hands-on workshop demonstrates how everyday technology can become a powerful outlet for visual expression. Led by Mr. Lim Chun Woei from Equator College, the sharing session at SMJK Chio Min introduced students to practical mobile cinematography techniques, dynamic camera angles, basic video editing, and core storytelling concepts. The session empowered participants to view their smartphones through a new lens and equipped them with the skills to craft engaging video stories on their own.
Book Launch Creative City as an Urban Development Strategy: The Case of Selected Malaysian Cities by Prof. TPr Dr. Khoo Suet Leng And Dr. Nicole Chang Shu Fun
Equator College recently hosted the launch of Creative City as an Urban Development Strategy: The Case of Selected Malaysian Cities, a new publication co-authored by Assoc. Prof. TPr Dr. Khoo Suet Leng (USM) and Dr. Nicole Chang Shu Fun (Equator College). Officiated by Penang State EXCO YB Wong Hon Wai, the launch brought together prominent industry voices—including Penang State Art Gallery Chairman Lee Khai and Penang Arts Council Chairman Joe Sidek—to discuss the evolving role of the creative economy in Malaysian cities.
Quietly Human Art Exhibition
The Fine Art Department of Equator College invites you to Quietly Human, an art exhibition showcasing works by Ng Zi Teng, Teh Hui Yu, and Chloe Chua. Running from 7 August to 11 September 2026 at Wu Wei Tea in George Town, Penang, the exhibition highlights personal stories, human emotions, and reflective moments through fine art. Visitors are welcome daily from 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM (closed Tuesdays).
Visit from Hua Qiao University
We were delighted to recently host representatives from Hua Qiao University for a campus visit. The delegation spent time exploring our facilities and learning more about our college offerings, academic programmes, and student pathways. ARCHIDEX 2026
Equator College students and lecturers (Ms. Audrey and Mr. Teh) recently explored the intersection of heritage, sustainability, and modern space design during an architecture and interior design study trip. Highlights included attending ARCHIDEX to view the latest industry innovations and touring notable landmarks such as Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad and Tamarind Square.
World of 3D Animation at Sri Tenby
We recently organized a successful ""World of 3D Animation"" workshop at Tenby Schools Penang, led by Mr. Jason and our dedicated student helpers. The session introduced students to the fundamentals of 3D animation—from character and environment design to storytelling—and featured an interactive character mask activity where students brought their own creative ideas to life.
Visit from National Yunlin University of Science and Technology, Taiwan
We recently had the pleasure of hosting a visiting delegation from National Yunlin University of Science and Technology, Taiwan at our campus. During their visit, our guests explored our college facilities and gained deeper insights into our academic programmes, student life, and future opportunities. Financial Freedom Mindset Workshop
Equator College students gained practical financial skills during an interactive two-hour Cashflow Game session. The workshop introduced key concepts like budgeting, assets, liabilities, and decision-making, encouraging participants to think strategically about their financial future. Special thanks to JCI United Penang for facilitating this engaging experience.
