Programme Overview
The Diploma in Fine Art programme provides students with excellent exposure to all the techniques involved in the discipline. Over the duration of this course, students are given the opportunity to experiment with a wide range of materials, skills, forms, and techniques which provide them with a solid foundation for further development in their chosen art-related careers.
Knowledge in the history of art and contemporary art enhances students’ appreciation of local and regional cultures. Creative thinking is nurtured as students are encouraged to think as professional artists. Students can major in a variety of media such as painting, drawing, printmaking, modelling and carving. They are also exposed to exhibitions, seminars, practical workshops, and art dialogues conducted by local and international artists and lecturers.

Malaysian Students
- Pass SPM / UEC / IGCSE / ‘O’ level with 3 credits including Mathematics; OR
- Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia (SKM) Level 3 and SPM (1 credit); OR
- Any other equivalent qualification recognised by the Malaysian Government.
International Students
International students can refer to the International Qualification Equivalency for International Students to Enter Higher Learning Institutions website prescribed by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) to ensure that the qualification is comparable to the entry requirements set by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia.
*Note: All candidates are subject to pass a drawing test / portfolio assessment conducted by Equator College to determine their suitability for the course. Applicants are also required to demonstrate proficiency in English, a pass in SPM / IGCSE / O-Levels English or have studied subjects that require a satisfactory level in English. All design students are required to have a laptop by the start of Semester 2 in their studies.
