Programme Overview
Unlike traditional academic programmes, micro-credentials offer a flexible, personalised and industry-focused pathway for learners to develop new skills and competencies. Equator College’s micro-credentials are developed from modules within our programmes accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency and are aligned with current industry standards.
Equator College offers two categories of micro-credentials:
1. Bundled Micro-credentials
Related short-course modules are combined to build comprehensive competencies in a specific field, such as Interior Design. These modules may contribute towards a formal accredited qualification, such as a Diploma in Interior Design.
2. Individual Micro-credentials
Individual micro-credentials are independent modules taken from our existing accredited Certificate and Diploma programmes. Learners may complete these modules separately and gradually combine them over time towards a formal accredited qualification.
Admission Policy
Equator College adopts a flexible admission policy for microcreds:
1. General Entry
Completion of secondary education. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to benefit from the course (e.g. basic literacy or relevant work experience etc).
2. Specific Prerequisites
Certain intermediate or advanced microcreds may require prior completion of foundational microcreds or equivalent professional experience.
Duration to complete one microcred is typically 12 weeks, followed by a week of study break and a week of examinations and assessments. Microcred students are also expected to complete and submit all coursework, assessments and examinations prescribed and outlined. All academic requirements are evaluated according to the same rigorous standards as those enrolled in our mainstream academic programmes.
