Creativity took center stage over the weekend as Equator College hosted a group of vibrant students and teachers from Penang Chinese Girls’ Private High School. Guided by Fine Art lecturer Mr. Vincent Tan, participants learned foundational drawing and painting techniques, explored new artistic ideas, and crafted original artworks to take home. We love hosting secondary school visits and empowering the next generation of creative talents!

Creativity meets technology! Our Google AI Training for Creatives brought together passionate participants for a day of hands-on experimentation and collaborative learning. Guided by expert trainer Stephanie Yap Su Chen, attendees tested new AI tools and discovered practical ways to elevate their creative projects. See how we are empowering our community to embrace the future of design and content creation.

Our students brought their creativity and talents to life during Production Day! From planning to shooting, they enthusiastically took part in the production process, gaining hands-on experience while showcasing their skills and teamwork behind the scenes.

Our students had the opportunity to learn from industry experts from Jomin Fabric and IrisPro, who shared their expertise in fabrics, window tinting, and interior applications. The session highlighted the importance of choosing the right window tints and curtains to manage UV exposure and how different lighting conditions can affect the appearance and colour of interior spaces. It was an insightful session that connected classroom knowledge with real-world industry practices.

Conducted by Glaire Eyewear, this interactive session gave our students the opportunity to explore different eyewear styles, try on a variety of frames, and measure their facial dimensions to discover which frames best suit their face shapes. Students also enjoyed an exciting lens durability demonstration, where the lenses were tested through hammering, stomping, and dropping from a height—yet remained intact! The session concluded with an informative sharing on how to choose the right frames for different face shapes, with students getting hands-on experience measuring their friends' facial dimensions.

Expanding creative perspectives through fine art reproduction! Students attended the Art Symposium at Penang Institute, exploring the artistic journey from image capture to final print with K.F. Choy while examining fine details, textures, and creative vision.

Understanding the heartbeat of urban spaces! Students joined Assoc. Prof. TPr. Dr. Khoo Suet Leng and Dr. Nicole Chang for an interactive "Introduction to Creative Cities" workshop, engaging in hands-on creative mapping to explore how culture and innovation shape city identity.

Great design relies on a deep understanding of manufacturing. Our students stepped out of the studio and onto the factory floor at Dee Noon Corporation Sdn. Bhd. to observe the complete furniture production lifecycle—from raw material selection and high-tech machinery operation to assembly and surface finishing. A huge thank you to the team at Dee Noon for hosting our students and sharing their industrial expertise!

Our students recently took part in a guided heritage trail through George Town alongside Miao Hui, discovering the fascinating stories, diverse culture, and timeless architecture of our UNESCO World Heritage site.
